Tawwakul

RUH Journal: On Tawakkul, reliance on Allah.

What does it truly mean to have Tawakkul?

It is to trust in Allah ﷻ with the deepest corners of your heart — to surrender your worries, your fears, and your uncertainties into His perfect care. When you find yourself in moments of anxiety, pain, or discomfort, remind yourself: Allah is taking care of all your matters. He is your Protector, your Provider, and the Best of Planners.

Tawakkul is not passive; it is the quiet strength that blooms when faith meets effort. It means doing what you can, with sincerity and intention, and then releasing the outcome to the One who knows what you do not.

It is to keep your mind and heart open to Allah’s divine plan — to embrace the truth that we are never in control, yet never abandoned. Before Allah ﷻ, we are humble and helpless, yet completely held.

When you trust in Alllah you are letting go and giving yourself permission to not get in your own way. You are surrendering to HIS decree and trusting what is beyond yourself. Know that Allah is “closer to you than your jugular vein”. (50:16). He is always present. When you are with HIM SWT, you don’t need anything or anyone.

Next time you feel anxious or uneasy follow the prophetic example of dhikr. Revive your heart of Allah’s remembrance. For these are sacred words of power and protection. It will calm you and also nourish your RUH, your spirit.

So breathe deeply. Let go. Let Allah.

And trust — that even in the unseen, He is working all things in your favor.

In moments of distress, pain, anxiety, or need, recite:

حَسْبُنَا اللّٰهُ وَنِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Hasbunallahu wa ni‘mal wakeel

“Allah is sufficient for us, and He is the best Disposer of affairs.”

Let these words settle your heart. Let them remind you that those who rely upon Allah are always in a state of goodness with HIM. For the one who entrusts their affairs to Him is never left alone.
